Drain Lining

  • Drainage Cambridgeshire

Drain Doctor drain lining is a modern technique that can be used to make a wide range of drain repairs, providing a ‘replacement pipe’ in areas where gaining access would be very difficult or impossible.

The liner is manufactured from a special dense impermeable felt and is tailored to fit exactly the internal dimension of the damaged pipe. The thickness of the lining material can be varied according to design specifications required.

The new pipe material is similar to GRP (glass reinforced plastic). In all cases it will be superior in quality and strength to the pipe which it lines. The new pipe is moulded into the damaged pipe by an ingenious method called ‘inversion’ using water or air pressure, fitting it tightly against the wall of the existing pipe. When the inversion is complete the new pipe (which is originally flexible) is now rigid. This results in a strong, tough pipe tightly fitted within the existing pipe. The capacity of the drain is only reduced by 6%, an amount too small to be noticeable on domestic water supplies.

Once the resin has dried (usually in an hour or so), the packer is withdrawn. The resin has now hardened leaving a smooth, strong new lining over the whole interior of the pipe. The whole process can be completed in just a few hours, and provides a low-cost solution for small drain repairs without the disruption of excavating and replacing the drains.

Our technicians are extensively trained in this technique of drain lining and are equipped with the most up to date equipment for relining drains, and we are setting new industry standards in order to bring you the very best repair solutions.
