Drain Doctor Comes to the Aid of DIY SOS

After a fantastic 2017, Anglia Drain Doctor was delighted to be able to give something back to the local community by providing their expert assistance to Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team. We like to make the most of every opportunity we have to get involved in community projects, and with such a tremendous cause, we were delighted to help by completing a pre-build CCTV drain survey.

The Big Build took place in Mildenhall in Suffolk at the home of the Dobbin family. Simon Dobbin was left with permanent brain damage following an unprovoked attack after a Cambridge United game in March 2015. His injuries left him fighting for his life and with permanent brain damage, Simon, his wife Nicole and daughter Emily were in desperate need of renovations to their home.

The importance of a CCTV drain survey

CCTV drain surveys are the best way to examine the insides of drains without having to dig them up. We simply put a CCTV camera into your drainage system to identify and locate leaks, blockages and other issues which otherwise cannot be seen.

Issues such as poor drainage can add costs and complications to a build or renovation project, so it’s important to carry out a survey upfront to be aware of any issues that might arise. This ensures blockages such as concrete or tough fibrous roots can be removed before the building begins.

Sewer damage can also be caused by bad design or drainage pipes which are too narrow for the building. Ironing out these problems before the renovations begin means there won’t be any expensive or time-consuming issues further down the line.

‘Humbled to help’

At the end of November, the Anglia Drain Doctor team attended the ‘Big Reveal’ and were moved to see just how happy the Dobbin family were with the changes that had been made to their home. That includes a downstairs extension and the bespoke care provision Simon now needs.

The team said: “It was very humbling to see so many different tradespeople and suppliers involved in such a worthwhile project which truly shows the best of our society.”

A date for the programme’s airing has not been revealed yet, but it will be sometime in 2018, so keep a lookout in your TV listings magazine.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

All that’s left is for us to wish you a fantastic Christmas and a prosperous and peaceful New Year from all the team here at Anglia Drain Doctor.
